We’re ringing in the new year with some familiar ugly mugs – the Chayotes are back!
Have you ever had one of those days when you feel like you don’t have a creative bone in your body? Seriously, I got nothing today! It makes me wonder if I should bother continuing this blog into 2013. Bleh.
I have no houseplant news, no garden news. The only things that are new are these Chayote squashes. Boring! They haven’t even sprouted yet!
What do you guys think? Should I abandon the blog? Give it a facelift? Change the categories? Focus more on what other people do with plants rather than myself?
I’d appreciate your input! Thanks in advance!

Your blog has been a big highlight of my year ’12! I would hate to see you end it. It keeps me in a growing mood and I love the new things I learn from you!! Couldn’t hurt to change things up if you have ideas for other content, I’ll certainly read it! I’d love to see what more people in your circle are doing with plants too! Not a bad idea. I love all of your stuff too though
. Please don’t go!

Alissa, you’re too sweet. We’ll always have facebook, haha (until I quit that, too). It definitely helps motivate me knowing you’re out there. Thank you!

When I joined your blog a mere few weeks ago…..and the FIRST EVER blog that I have joined……of the girl from Albuquerque who loves plants and birds and Alba – querky things and odds and sods like me…whose blog I relish and must-ard read each day….I said to myself “Hey, this stuff is amazing. It makes my day reading it. It really does! Don”t get me wrong, I do have quite a busy life besides the internet, (mom, teacher, plants, birds, cats, music, ….. toooo many interests…..but i love ‘em all) …… but this is one special blog. Perhaps even the blog of all blogs! Tim the tool man Taylor always said: “Never give up! Never surrender!”. Write about whatever you want. We loyal followers in cyberspace will give you ideas!
Cheers to you Liza!!

I appreciate that very much, Nancy. Maybe all I need is a little housekeeping. Thank you!

Nope. Not allowed. Sorry. You’re stuck with me. Deal with it.
Thank you though, for posting the pic of the Chayotes. It reminded me that I have to check on my Ex Mother-in-law.. Something I promised Dad-in-law 20 years ago.
It’s Winter. Plants aren’t doing to much, at least here on the East Coast.. Haven’t seen the sun in over a week and the plants aren’t happy about it. OK.. maybe the Pothos is.
We all go through times of Creativity and Lack of it.. One suggestion for a blog might be to have Us, your adoring and adorable *pats self on back* followers send you answers to specific topics and you feature one or more of them from time to time, as in when the mood strikes..
“What brought you to Houseplants in the first place?”
Interesting topic, and I’m sure every regular on here has a different story to tell, and we can all relate to each and every tale told..
Each answer could be Emailed to you.. you read, edit, agree, disagree, copy, cut, paste, and all those other computer words.. bang. New blog.
That’s one idea. I’m sure there will be others and you’ll be receiving an Email from me in the wee wee hours, when most creative.
Chin up! If you want, I’ll share my hamster sandwiches with you..
Guest writers.. ghosts.. Geographical assignments.. We’re Good to Grow.

Oh Charlie, how I love you so! You should definitely go first. I’ll publish your story the moment I receive it. Unless you send it in the middle of my beauty sleep. Then I’ll get to it first thing in the morning. You’re awesome!

I’m with Charlie too. I’m a fellow Abq resident and houseplant enthusiast and have found in my searches that houseplant blogs are hard to come by! Then low and behold, I found your blog several weeks ago and and have been hooked ever since, and I surely didn’t expect to find one from a fellow burqueno! I’ve been a houseplant collector for years and only recently started to think about the fact that many of the plants that I have really should be blooming and never actually do for me,and have thus started to baby them and search for other’s experiences growing particular varieties. There are a gazillion different plants out there and maybe some of us readers can contribute about our plant experiences on your blog. Anyway, don’t give up, there are too few houseplant blogs out there as it is and I really enjoy reading yours!

Thanks Kim! Good to know you’re here in town. The best way to get your plants to flower is to fertilize them – they love it. Let me know if you have any questions! Thank you again!

Plowing Through Life (Martha)
I would hate to see you go, Liza. I’ve been following your blog for a long time, and it’s a favourite. I don’t comment regularly, but I want you to know that I’m always lurking around your posts, reading, and many times, chuckling. Your blog is fun, quirky, colourful. It’s hard to keep up with a blog, especially when you’re drawing a blank, but I do hope you stick around — even if you blog less often!

That’s how I feel about your blog, Martha. I don’t know how you keep up your schedule – you’re unrelenting! Anyway, thank you so much. I’ll sort it all out!

I can only repeat what all the others have said – nooo, don’t stop blogging!
But you also shouldn’t feel pressured to post daily. I admire people who can do that, but I definitely couldn’t. So don’t feel guilty about taking a few days off if you can’t think about something to post about.

Thanks Ivy. I put the pressure on myself. I figure I spend so much time trying to get people to come to the site, I should have something new to reward them. But I think now I’ll focus on quality rather than quantity. I knew you’d understand!

“Singing” Please, don’t go, don’t go away! Along with Martha….I admit, I’m a lurker! I have learned so much from you and your blog! I enjoy reading what you write, especially, when you speak from your plants prospective.
My New Year resolutions as of 1/9/13 are to….
1. Comment more.
2. Learn how to post photos of my “bloomers” on (or before) the 15th of every month.
3. And finally, not check my email too early and be disappointed that i don’t see a goodtogrow email.
