Good To Grow, Liza's photos, Merry Christmas from Peach

If houseplants could speak English, Christmas edition:

Scenario one:

Peach (my Norfolk Island Pine): “Aaaahhhhh! Why, what’s happening? What’s all this stuff? My branches are being compromised – please be gentle! Oh wait, you are being gentle. Ok, I still don’t know what’s happening, but this is ok. Hey, I look kind of spiffy, don’t I? Hey, thanks caregiver human, I like the colors!”

The rest of the plants in the foyer: “Peach, you look beautiful!” “You’re so festive!” “You grow, girl!” “Merry Christmas to one and all!” “Love it!” “You’re like a rainbow of Christmas cheer!”

Scenario two:

Peach (my Norfolk Island Pine): “Aaaahhhhh! Why, what’s happening? What’s all this stuff? My branches are being compromised – please be gentle! Oh wait, you are being gentle. Ok, I still don’t know what’s happening, but this is ok. Hey, I look kind of spiffy, don’t I? Hey, thanks caregiver human, I like the colors!”

The rest of the plants in the foyer: “That is so unfair!” “Yeah, why is she getting all the attention?” “Whatever, I could rock those ornaments” “Show-off!” “I hate you!” “Ooooh, everyone look at Peach, she’s the popular one!” “Just because you have lights, doesn’t mean you’re special, you’re just still the same dumb ol’ Peach you were yesterday.”

Scenario three:

Peach (my Norfolk Island Pine): “Aaaahhhhh! Why, what’s happening? What’s all this stuff? My branches are being compromised – please be gentle! Oh wait, you are being gentle. Ok, I still don’t know what’s happening, but this is ok. Hey, I look kind of spiffy, don’t I? Hey, thanks caregiver human, I like the colors!”

The rest of the plants in the foyer: “I think you look great, Peach!” “I’m a little jealous, sure, but you look so festive!” “I hate you!” “Hey, hey, hate’s a strong word. Peach didn’t ask for this – she was just born as a tree humans want to decorate, you can’t fault her for that.” “I’m sorry, Peach.” “We’re all sorry, Peach – it’s true, you were just born that way, and you really do brighten up the foyer!”

Peach: “Merry Christmas, fellow Earth inhabitants! And a happy holiday season to all! I wish you peace and lots of cheerful colors.”
