Hello turkeys, and happy Friday!
Welcome back to the Good To Grow site, and thanks for being here.
I hope everyone in the U.S. had a good gobble gobble day yesterday, and enjoyed time with family and friends. And that everyone had a good meal, as well.
If your holiday extends into Friday, then good for you, too! Here on the blog, we like to celebrate every Friday, so let’s get started.
First, our beloved Experts on are on a much-deserved break, so let’s admire their adorableness:
And then move to the plant puzzler:
???Real or Fake???
Last week, I asked if this tree was real or fake:
Let’s see how you answered:
Ivynettle from the Letters and Leaves site wrote, “Real!”
Darryl Cheng, who has this cool houseplant tumblr wrote, “I think it’s real but this plant sure has some uniform needles!”
Claude from the Random Rants and Prickly Plants site wrote, “Real live Norfolk Island Pine. And theres one of these growing in a yard down the street. I know in certain parts of Florida they’re banned as yard trees because they attract a nasty variety of termites… but that doesn’t seem too be a problem here.”
Joseph Brenner from Texas wrote, “Real.”
That’s four votes real, zero votes fake.
What’s the correct answer?
Let’s see if a wider view helps:
It’s real, and what a beauty! Claude was correct, it’s a Norfolk Island Pine, which most people know as Living Christmas Trees. I can imagine this one with lights and ornaments – it would look so nice!
Real plants and trees are always more beautiful than fake ones. And they actually serve a purpose, as opposed to being dusty clutter.
Great job everyone! You nailed it! No surprise there – you all have eagle eyes when it comes to spotting real plants.
To show my appreciation for you playing the puzzler, I’d like to award you each the following prizes: Leftover turkey, two hot toddies, a sweater vest, the title of Plant Puzzler Master Flash for the weekend, 16 bonus points, leftover cranberry sauce, a billboard touting your accomplishments, three spare eyebrows, Silver City, leftover stuffing, four kitten yawns, one crescent moon, six accolades, no Black Friday brawls, leftover potatoes, 11 more points, two lasting impressions, seven compliments on your hair, dusk, leftover pumpkin pie, one new attitude, five more prizes, a symphony, one acequia, Tammy, three baby pigeons, Louisiana Boulevard, leftover yams, a blender, 23 cashews, two botanical gardens, a new dance move, poetry, leftover salad, four strands of Christmas Lights, a new sofa, one Aloe plant, one frying pan, and leftover wine (just kidding, there’s never leftover wine from Thanksgiving!).
Congratulations, and thanks for playing!
Up next, a new puzzler:
