The battle for the feeders continues. But not every day. Some days, the bees show up and dominate the feeders. Other days, the bees are no where to be found.

Most of the hummingbirds don’t like to go near the feeders when they are crowded with bees. I don’t blame them – I don’t like going near the feeders when the bees are there, either.

So over the holiday, I asked an employee at the local bird shop about the problem. She recommended this feeder:

So far so good! The bees don’t seem to be able to get to the nectar, leaving it all for the birds.

The birds still have to fight the bees on the other feeders, but at least they have one to themselves now.

Some of the birds appear ready for the fight, like the one pictured below. I watched him checking out the bee situation a couple of weeks ago.
