Helloooooooooo apples!
One of my Echeverias started blooming a few months ago, so I started photographing it. Not well – the plant sits on my kitchen windowsill, a location that makes good photographs challenging because of the lighting. Still, I was fairly consistent about photographing it. The flower stalk kept turning toward the light, so I rotated the plant often. Sometimes I took photos in the evening when the blinds were down so you could see the color of the blooms better (they’re an adorable pink). Oh, and at some point I made a half-hearted attempt to stake the stalk so it would stay upright. I used the only stakes I had – skewers for cooking on the grill. So, please look past that.
Anyway.
This seems like the furthest I’ve ever gone for a bit.
We’re going to do another modern-day flip book, so it looks like you’re watching the stalk grow right before your eyes. You’ll have to scroll fast.
I didn’t use all the photos I had. You’re welcome, haha!
Here’s what the flower stalk looks like right now:
Pretty right? And weird! Here’s the whole plant:
And more of the blooms:
I’m totally charmed by the flowers. It’s been super fun watching this plant bloom.
You know how this works. Which is to say, it only works when you scroll really, really fast.
Ready?
Set.
Scroll!
Aaaaahhhhh, that was good times!
Thanks everyone for indulging me in that. I’ll be back tomorrow, hope to see you here.

Haha, did it seem ambitious? It wasn’t really. But I’m glad you like the flowers. Those Echeveria blooms wow me every time!

Ginny, I don’t have much experience with their blooms either, but they sure are funky, eh?

Also, I love the purple irises that now adorn your website. Are they from your tree box?

Thank you! The purple irises are in the beds next to the street. My landlady and I did a big separation and replant a couple of years of all those bulbs. They’ve been blooming in waves for weeks now – it’s been fun to watch.
I’m glad you like the Echeveria blooms! Crazy succulents!
